PainBuster: the legend carries on

With a bit more work, On-Q might have got it right. The lead article in Sept 07 Anesthesiology describes the use of a preperitoneal catheter and 1o ml/h of 0.2% ropivacaine after midline laparotomy. The results are impressive: a halving of morphine consumption and pain scores and home a day earlier.

So why was the useless subcutaneous device being flogged last month?
